Knife (Week 3) - Final Materials/Textures/Renders

This week I textured and rendered the knife. Before I did that, I had to go back and add more geometry because I was below the polycount (before: ~5k tris, now: 14k tris). I didn't realize I went overboard with the tris until it was too late and I ran out of time. I'll have to go back and reduce it now lol. I also re-did my UVs. Then I was able to go into substance, bake, and start doing my final materials/textures. I wasn't able to get it into engine in time, so I did some Iray renders from Substance.

Knife (Week 2) - Game Res, UVs, First Bake

This week I had to make my game res model. It was a bit challenging to have good looking geometry without it all being triangles. That's something I would like critique on how to do better.

Tangled VR (Sprint 1)

We expanded our experience to have more of a story. The player now starts in a dock then sets out on their journey into the middle of the lake to enjoy the lantern festival. These two weeks I was tasked to model and design the dock environment. I proxied out the layout and then began game-res models starting with the dock itself.

Goals (Post FIEA)

My goal after FIEA is to work as a 3D environment artist for a mid-sized or AAA studio. My ideal companies to work for are Riot Games and Epic Games. I prefer to focus on stylized art. I'm also interested in working in film/cinematics either for game dev or animated films (i.e. Pixar, DreamWorks).

Current focus would be making more small environments and improving/diversifying my portfolio.

Some extra studies that I will need to learn are:

- Materials and texture practice (understanding base materials and how that will affect lighting/rendering)

- Learning tools/techniques in software (ZBrush shortcuts, Substance, Designer, etc. to help speed up my workflow)
